Lovely Lisbon
Bright light, blue sky, noisy trams, beautiful home of the custard tart...
Arrived on the quick train from Porto and got straight into the city by tram through busy pastel streets. We have been travelling light in this town without the pusher, up and down hills and stairs, on and off small trams with Zar carrying Mira on his back. Belem was amazing with its oversized monuments, the tower of Belem and the Standard of Discoveries for the all conquering Portuguese. The custard tarts lived up to their reputation and the modern art gallery provided even more opportunities for Mira to develop her performance art show. Who would have known that the Golden Gate Bridge's sister bridge is right here in Lisbon and that all of the worlds cork supply is from right here in Portugal, even Melbourne's Keep Cups heat absorbing ring.
The aquarium in the new section of town was immersive and amazing and the kids could have spent a week there. We have made good use of the cocktail carts along the foreshore and think that St Kilda should adopt a similar cart for summer.
